MAME4droid (0.139u1) is a port of the MAME 0.139 emulator developed by David Valdeita (Seleuco), based on the work of Nicola Salmoria and the MAME team. It enables the emulation of arcade games supported by this particular version of MAME, boasting a library of over 8000 distinct ROMs.
MAME4droid is classified as an emulator and does not come bundled with any ROMs or copyrighted content.
This iteration of MAME4droid is optimized for dual-core Android devices, aligning it with the specifications required by the PC MAME version, which are more demanding compared to previous versions.
Users should manage their expectations even with high-end devices, as certain "modern" arcade games from the 90s and beyond may not operate at full speed or exhibit full compatibility. Games like Outrun and the Mortal Kombat series tend to be poorly optimized and typically necessitate a minimum 1.5GHz dual-core device for smooth performance.
Given the vast assortment of over 8000 supported games, performance may vary across titles, with some running more smoothly than others, and some possibly not running at all. Due to this extensive range, individualized support for specific games cannot be accommodated, hence users are discouraged from contacting the developer for such requests.
Once installed, users are advised to place their MAME-titled zipped ROMs within the /sdcard/MAME4droid/roms directory.
